When I first heard about the Mystery contest over at the Game Crafter, this idea immediately sprung to mind. I mean, what is better for a mystery contest, than an actual mystery? And so the idea was born.
The game takes place 10 years after the colony of Roanoke was found abandoned. You take on the role of John White (governor of the Roanoke Colony), Sir Walter Raleigh (Benefactor of the Roanoke Colony), or another benefactor loyal to the Queen of England. You first need to gather resources in England then set sail across the Atlantic, landing in the new world. When you are there you need to setup your colony and begin to gather resources from the land to further your ability to search the land for clues of the missing colony.
The game is unique in several ways but the way that I am most proud of is an innovative way to look up clues that are retrieved from researching the areas. On each hex is a clue token. When a player pays the required resources they are able to lookup a clue in the book. The additive combination of several clues infer what happened to the colony of Roanoke.
